Security Software Engineer, Detection & Response Platform

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a senior Security Software Engineer to join its Detection Platform team. You will design and build the next‑generation security analytics infrastructure that powers detection and response capabilities across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable data pipelines that ingest and process massive security telemetry.
• Develop AI‑powered detection systems and prototype new security tooling.
• Design storage solutions and optimize queries for large volumes of security‑relevant data.
• Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, contribute to hiring, and participate in on‑call rotations.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience focused on security, infrastructure, or data pipelines.
• Proven track record building internal developer tools or security platforms.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to lead technical projects with minimal guidance.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with cross‑functional security teams.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Test‑driven development and CI/CD pipelines.
• Detection‑as‑code workflow experience (preferred).
• Query optimization for large datasets and large‑scale logging systems.
• Building scalable services on cloud and serverless architectures.
