Security Operations Analyst - Tier 1

About the role

Knox Systems is looking for a Tier 1 Security Operations Analyst to join its Cyber Fusion Center in Arlington, VA. You will monitor cloud and on‑premise environments, respond to alerts, and ensure the availability and security of critical federal systems.

Key responsibilities

• Work a fixed shift (weekday or four‑day rotation) and hand over incidents with detailed logs.
• Review security alerts, decide to escalate, contain, or close them, documenting reasoning.
• Handle performance and availability issues from the same queue as security alerts.
• Follow runbooks for containment and involve senior analysts when needed.
• Process customer requests and tickets after higher‑priority incidents are resolved.

Required profile

• CompTIA Security+ certification or ability to obtain it within 90 days of start.
• Hands‑on experience in IT operations, help‑desk, or a Network Operations Center.
• Good judgment for escalation and comfort working independently on overnight shifts.
• No degree, prior corporate experience, or active security clearance required.

Required skills

• CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent).
• IT operations and help‑desk troubleshooting.
• Network troubleshooting and incident containment.
