Security Engineer – Quantum Computing Software

About the role

IBM Quantum is looking for a Security Engineer to protect its quantum‑computing software stack. Based at the T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY, you will ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical applications and data in a high‑tech environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities across software, infrastructure, and cloud services.
• Implement and enforce security policies, regulatory standards, and best‑practice frameworks.
• Collaborate with IBM’s CISO, development teams, and operations to embed security throughout the product lifecycle.
• Conduct penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and incident response activities.
• Maintain security monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, software security, or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in multi‑team settings.
