Security Alarm Technician – Electronic/Integrated Security

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a commercial Electronic Security Technician to support the main Penn State University campus in State College, PA. The role involves maintaining, servicing, and installing electronic security systems for critical federal facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, service, and install commercial Electronic Security Systems including access controls, intrusion detection, and camera systems (e.g., SoftwareHouse C‑cure 9000, American Dynamics, DMP).
• Install security devices according to the National Electric Code, company, and customer guidelines.
• Program and set up security systems, conduct post‑installation testing, and verify signal transmission to monitoring centers.
• Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and manage emergency call notifications.
• Prepare estimates, deliver end‑user training, and ensure safe work practices and site clean‑up.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing low‑voltage integrated security systems (intrusion, access control, CCTV, digital recording).
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, specifications, and operational manuals.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Eligibility to obtain required government security clearances.
