Sea Grant Scholar

About the role

The Sea Grant Scholar provides advisory and research support for Louisiana Sea Grant, focusing on the commercial blue industry and coastal communities. The role bridges academic expertise with industry needs to enhance research and education programs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice and training to Sea Grant on education programs, competitive research projects, and the commercial fishing industry (35%).
• Facilitate coordination between Louisiana Sea Grant, partners, and federal agencies such as Adopt a Pond (35%).
• Collaborate with the director on MEP needs and assist with projects like video production to capture institutional knowledge (25%).
• Perform other duties as assigned (5%).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience (degree optional if experience criteria are met).
• Preferred: Master's degree, 20 years of experience, and specific experience with the Louisiana crab industry and water quality.
