School Nurse (K-12)

About the role

The School Nurse serves as the primary health contact for students at Cornerstone Academy, a K‑12 charter school in Westerville, OH. This role ensures the physical and mental health of students is managed in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and protect student health through health management protocols.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant student health records.
• Provide basic healthcare for injuries and acute illnesses.
• Manage medication storage, documentation, and communication with families.
• Maintain clinic supplies, spare clothing, and uniform inventory for emergencies.
• Schedule and coordinate vision, hearing, and dental screenings.
• Develop partnerships for asthma therapy, diabetes care, mobile health, and support for pregnant students.
• Deliver health and wellness professional development to staff.
• Conduct home visits when needed and stay current with nursing best practices.

Required profile

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN).
• Knowledge of state and local health and social laws.
• Experience working with children and teenagers; education‑setting experience is a plus.
• Understanding of school nursing practices and confidentiality requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and high‑quality written and verbal communication.
• Availability for occasional evenings or weekends.
• Ability to pass federal, state, and local background checks.
