School Bus Instructor & Operator (Full Benefits)

About the role

The Manteca Unified School District Transportation Department is seeking a qualified Instructor/Bus Operator to work full‑time in the district office. The position involves both operating school buses safely and providing instruction to other drivers, with a standard 8‑hour workday and full benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Operate assigned school buses in compliance with California safety regulations.
• Deliver classroom and on‑the‑road instruction to new and existing bus drivers.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and training records.
• Ensure all required certifications and medical clearances are current.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
• Assist with scheduling, route planning, and vehicle maintenance coordination.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of bus operating experience.
• Valid California driver’s license of the appropriate class.
• Special Driver Certificate for school buses issued by the California DMV.
• Medical Examiner’s Certificate and California State School Bus Instructor Certificate.
• Clean, district‑insurable driving record.
• Ability to pass TB clearance and fingerprinting at the employee’s expense.
