School-Based Behavioral Health Therapist

About the role

The School-Based Behavioral Health Therapist provides direct mental health counseling and behavioral health services to students within the Rockbridge Area Health Center School‑Based Health Center program. Working closely with students, families, school staff, and an integrated healthcare team, the therapist helps improve access to quality mental health care for children and adolescents in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group mental health counseling and behavioral therapy to school‑age children and adolescents.
• Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Provide crisis intervention and immediate support when needed.
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and families to coordinate care.
• Integrate services with RAHC’s primary care and behavioral health teams.
• Support early identification and treatment of mental health and behavioral concerns.

Required profile

• Licensed in Virginia as an LCSW or LPC.
• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related behavioral health field.
• Demonstrated experience providing mental health counseling to children or adolescents.
• Eligibility for FTCA privileging.
• Current BLS certification.
