Scholarship Counselor – Student Financial Aid

About the role

The Scholarship Counselor works within Louisiana State University’s Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, supporting the university’s enrollment goals by providing comprehensive scholarship information and assistance to current and prospective students and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver primary customer service to students, parents, and departmental contacts via phone, email, and in‑person interactions, resolving issues and presenting scholarship information at orientation and other events.
• Act as the liaison between the scholarships office, faculty, staff, and the Enrollment Management call center, providing training and ongoing support.
• Counsel and advise students on university, state, federal, and donor scholarship programs, ensuring accurate description of policies, criteria, and procedures.
• Support colleges in awarding departmental scholarships, review submitted documents, and establish scholarship programs and rules within the SAE system.
• Coordinate with Sponsored Program Accounting, the LSU Foundation, and Bursar operations to set up new scholarships and manage disbursements.
