Schedule Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

The Schedule Engineer will support the $2.9 BN Red Line Extension project in Chicago, developing and maintaining detailed construction schedules from pre‑construction through close‑out. This on‑site position works closely with project managers, engineers, contractors and suppliers to keep the project on track.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update comprehensive construction schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
• Identify critical and near‑critical path activities, assess risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Monitor progress, provide regular schedule updates to teams and senior management.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to align their activities with the master schedule.
• Conduct schedule impact analyses for changes and deviations.
• Ensure compliance with contractual timelines and industry scheduling standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years of heavy‑construction scheduling experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead meetings, set agendas and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
• Experience with Microsoft Project.
• Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and document management tools such as SharePoint, Smartsheet, ACC or E‑Builder.
• Ability to generate and maintain cost‑schedule integration.
