SAP Specialist – Skill Acquisition Planner

About the role

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission seeks a dedicated SAP Specialist to develop and implement Skill Acquisition Plans (SAP) for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in State Supported Living Centers. This full‑time, non‑exempt position works on‑site in Pollok, TX, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to promote independence and wellness.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive Skill Acquisition Plans addressing education, vocation, socialization, recreation, medication self‑administration, and daily living.
• Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to assess skill gaps and set measurable goals.
• Create training aids, manuals, and ensure adaptive equipment is available for plan execution.
• Monitor progress across various settings, including holidays, evenings, and weekends as scheduled.
• Document progress, prepare reports, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
• Lead and supervise support staff, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Required profile

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Strong ability to develop individualized instructional plans.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Non‑exempt status and willingness to work flexible hours.
