Safety Trainee

About the role

We are looking for a Safety Trainee to support safe operations at our grain export terminal. The role focuses on coaching staff, delivering training, and conducting safety audits to ensure compliance with our safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve safety knowledge and skills across the line organization and implement approved recommendations.
• Assist with monthly safety trainings at different locations and conduct pre‑shift meetings with management and hourly personnel.
• Communicate regularly with Facility Managers and Group Managers, perform field observations, and provide coaching.
• Conduct audits and site visits using detailed checklists, prepare reports, and present findings to the Safety Manager.
• Visit medical facilities as needed, support new‑employee and contractor orientations, and update the safety management system software.
• Follow up on accidents, injuries, near‑misses and incidents to verify root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Participate in operation planning sessions, research safety impacts, and assist other divisions with process changes.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly in the field with diverse teams.
• Detail‑oriented mindset for conducting audits and preparing accurate reports.
• Willingness to travel between sites for trainings and inspections.
