Safety Inspector

About the role

The Safety Inspector will ensure that all work sites comply with federal, state and local safety regulations as well as Wilson's internal safety program. Reporting to the Director of Safety, the role involves daily safety briefings, audits, training and incident investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead morning tailboard meetings covering safety topics, incidents, near‑misses and best practices.
• Conduct at least one safety audit per crew using the iAuditor app, identifying hazards and recommending controls.
• Implement immediate corrective actions for any non‑compliance with regulations or company policies.
• Review audit results with foremen, track accident trends and provide safety guidance.
• Deliver safety orientations and ongoing training for new and returning employees.
• Coordinate drug testing for new hires and manage the fall‑protection and fit‑testing program.
• Verify that all Wilson equipment operated by employees holds the required certifications.
• Review truck and equipment inspection reports (Zonar, DVIRs) and investigate all incidents and near‑misses.
• Maintain and distribute personal protective equipment, first‑aid supplies and emergency information.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience leading or supporting safety programs.
• At least three years of experience in high‑voltage electrical transmission and distribution.
• Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the iAuditor audit application.
• Working knowledge of OSHA federal and state regulations.
• Understanding of fall‑protection procedures and fit‑testing.
• Familiarity with equipment inspection tools such as Zonar and DVIR reporting.
