Safety Hazmat Technician – Emergency Response

About the role

The Safety Hazmat Technician will join R+L Carriers' Milwaukee service center, reporting to the Director of Safety. This position focuses on emergency response, hazardous‑material clean‑up, site remediation, and equipment decontamination to protect employees, customers, and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency incidents involving hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
• Perform site‑remediation, equipment decontamination, and waste containerization following company procedures.
• Audit incoming and outgoing hazardous‑material shipments for regulatory compliance.
• Maintain daily job notes, update management on issues, and ensure proper documentation.
• Lead safety training events and coach co‑workers on safe practices.
• Participate in specialized projects and live training sessions as required.

Required profile

• 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Physically fit; able to lift up to 75 lb.
• Ability to work under high pressure in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and employee resorts as needed.
