Safety Hazmat Technician – Emergency Response

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a Safety Hazmat Technician to join its Chicago service center. The role focuses on emergency response, hazardous material cleanup, site remediation, and equipment decontamination while supporting the company’s high‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency incidents involving hazardous and non‑hazardous materials.
• Perform site remediation, equipment decontamination, and proper waste containerization.
• Audit incoming and outgoing hazardous‑material shipments for regulatory compliance.
• Maintain daily job notes and communicate issues promptly to management.
• Lead safety documentation and ensure adherence to R+L procedures.
• Participate in live training events and coach co‑workers on safe practices.

Required profile

• 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
• Physically fit, able to lift up to 75 lb.
• Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work under high pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Confidentiality and attention to detail.
