About the role

Join Tesla’s Optimus Stator team in Austin as a Robotics Manufacturing Engineer. You will design and implement high‑volume automation equipment and manufacturing methods for stator and segment molding, helping shape the future of AI‑driven robotics.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes for injection, micro, low‑pressure, and transfer molding, including vision control, robotic handling, and thermal management.
  • Collaborate with product engineers to design for assembly and ensure efficient, quality‑focused production.
  • Participate in design and process reviews, generate machine specifications, documentation, and failure‑mode analyses.
  • Work with external vendors and internal stakeholders to review production equipment throughout development.
  • Manage project timelines, drive on‑time delivery, and travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

Required profile

  • Strong knowledge of plastics molding processes, post‑molding operations, and mold‑flow simulation.
  • Solid understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), lean manufacturing, GD&T, and capacity planning.
  • Proven problem‑solving abilities using statistical process control, design of experiments, and data‑analysis tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
