Robotic Weld Operator – Novarc SWR

About the role
We are seeking a Robotic Weld Operator to run our Novarc Spool Welding Robot (SWR) in our Jacksonville, Texas facility. The operator will set up and operate the robotic cell, load and position pipe spools, execute root‑to‑cap welds, and monitor weld quality in real time on carbon steel, stainless steel, low‑alloy and nickel‑alloy pipe ranging from 2" to 60".
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate the Novarc SWR robotic welding cell for pipe‑spool production.
- Load, align and position pipe on positioners and rollers, managing joint fit‑up for automated welding.
- Run root‑to‑cap welds while monitoring the NovEye vision/seam‑tracking system and adjusting parameters as needed.
- Set and verify weld parameters (voltage, current, wire feed speed, travel speed) for each joint and material.
- Monitor weld quality in real time and ensure per‑joint data logging (NovData) for traceability.
- Perform routine cell setup, changeovers, consumable management and first‑line troubleshooting.
- Present welds for third‑party NDT and support prompt repair of any rejects.
- Maintain a sub‑1% weld repair rate and a safe work area while collaborating with pipe welders, fitters and quality control.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Novarc SWR Operators Training certificate (required).
- Fundamental welding knowledge and ability to qualify as a welding operator per ASME Section IX (machine/automatic welding).
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort with equipment setup, HMIs and shop‑floor software.
Required skills
- Operation of Novarc SWR robotic welding system.
- Use of NovEye vision/seam‑tracking system.
- Data logging with NovData.
- GMAW and FCAW welding techniques.
- Pipe welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, low‑alloy and nickel‑alloy pipe.
- Equipment setup and changeover on robotic cells.
- Proficiency with HMIs and shop‑floor software.
