RN Nursing Home Surveyor (Southern Region)

About the role

The Department of Health Services, Division of Quality Assurance, is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as a Nursing Home Surveyor for the Southern Region of Wisconsin. This remote‑first position involves extensive travel across the state to evaluate nursing facilities and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct program monitoring and compliance surveys of nursing and skilled‑nursing facilities.
• Verify adherence to Medicare, Medicaid, and state licensing standards.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to surveyed facilities.
• Coordinate survey teams and act as team lead when designated.
• Investigate complaints, perform follow‑up visits, and conduct surveillance inspections.

Required profile

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 24 months of relevant experience in nursing home or quality assurance settings.
• Ability to work remotely with a private workspace and high‑speed internet.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight stays.
• Strong knowledge of federal Medicare/Medicaid regulations and state health codes.
