RN – Med Surg – Nights

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for a night‑shift Medical‑Surgical unit. The RN will act as a leader in patient care, applying the nursing process within the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code, and Scope & Standards of Practice. You will work in a diverse environment, contributing to the hospital’s strategic goals while delivering high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources effectively.
• Analyze data and promote change to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Adapt behavior to respect patient privacy, cultural preferences, and communication styles.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and ensure compliance.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred).
• No prior work experience required.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification in a clinical specialty area (preferred).

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
