About the role

James River Hospice is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to lead its hospice program in Roanoke. This full‑time position combines clinical expertise with operational leadership to ensure high‑quality end‑of‑life care for patients in their homes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership while promoting a positive, mission‑driven work environment.
• Manage daily clinical and administrative operations across hospice services.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and support clinical and administrative team members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and promote continuous professional development.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable hospice regulations and accreditation standards.
• Implement quality‑assurance initiatives to maintain the highest standards of care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and families to deliver comprehensive, compassionate end‑of‑life care plans.
• Oversee budget planning and resource allocation to ensure financial sustainability.
• Foster effective communication between staff, patients, families, and external healthcare partners.
• Collaborate with local physicians, facilities, and community organizations to enhance the continuum of care.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Minimum two years of health‑related experience, including at least one year of hospice supervisory or administrative experience within the last five years.
