Risk Services Consultant (California Telecommuter)

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Risk Services Consultant (also called Risk Control Services Consultant) for California, either as a hybrid role in Sacramento or as a remote, work-at-home telecommute role, subject to company need. The position requires about 50% travel within California. The consultant manages risk control services for multiple clients, develops or implements risk control plans, communicates risk mitigation methods and evaluates their effectiveness, and acts as a liaison to vendors, insurance markets and other parties.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect workplaces and sites to identify and document violations of federal, state or local safety laws and hazards.
• Develop risk mitigation programs and procedures, including policies, standards, procedures, risk reduction strategies, training and vendor applications, and act as local liaison to vendors.
• Communicate loss reports, presentations, analyses, interpretations and advice to clients.
• Participate in large engagements requiring multiple analysts and in the development of new business, products and client retention.
• Travel as required.

Required profile

• Six years of related risk services experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with public entities, insurance or risk pooling is highly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Safety, Business Administration or a related field preferred.
• Preferred certifications: GSP, CSP, ARM, PRC or OHST.

Required skills

• Knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 CFR.
• Basic industrial hygiene (noise and air sampling).
• Microsoft Office.
• Good oral and written communication, presentation, negotiation, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
