Risk Control Technical Consultant, Field

About the role

The Risk Control Technical Consultant provides underwriting teams with detailed knowledge of hazards, controls and management practices across complex, multi‑line accounts. Working primarily in the field, the consultant evaluates how companies identify and manage inherent risk factors and differentiates each account within its class of business.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent field presence, spending 20‑50% of time onsite with customers and traveling as required.
• Partner with Underwriting to select, retain and grow a profitable book of business.
• Build and maintain relationships with Underwriting, Claims, Risk Control Specialists and Brokers to service customers as a unified team.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessment evaluations for diverse, moderate‑to‑high‑complexity businesses, including manufacturing facilities, large warehouses, multi‑location companies and sizable fleet operations.
• Prepare technically detailed reports that clearly communicate risk assessments and recommendations.

Required profile

• Willingness and ability to travel long‑distance, including overnight and multi‑night trips.
• Experience working with complex, multi‑line insurance accounts.
• Strong analytical ability to evaluate hazards, controls and management practices.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration with underwriting and brokerage teams.
