Risk Control Consultant – Field

About the role

Travelers is seeking a Field Risk Control Consultant to partner with underwriters and provide on‑site risk assessments for a diverse portfolio of commercial accounts. You will travel to client locations, evaluate hazards, and deliver actionable recommendations that help manage and reduce loss exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent field presence, spending 20‑50% of time on‑site with customers.
• Collaborate with underwriting, claims, risk control specialists, and brokers to service customers as a unified team.
• Conduct risk assessment evaluations for moderately complex accounts such as manufacturers, restaurants, educational institutions, distributors, auto dealers, and fleet operators.
• Produce technically detailed reports that clearly communicate risk findings and recommendations.
• Analyze loss data and customer readiness to recommend appropriate risk control products and services.
• Stay current on technical subjects, regulatory changes, and emerging industry issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, construction management, basic sciences, or related technical fields.
• Experience in the insurance industry with strong business acumen.
• Relevant certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, or CFPS.
