Risk & Compliance Lead

About the role

Radiant is a fast‑growing startup developing portable nuclear micro‑reactors. The Risk & Compliance Lead will create and own the company’s risk management function, mapping exposure across all business units and designing insurance and liability strategies to protect the organization as it scales.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive liability map for all entities, business units, and deployment channels (government and commercial).
• Design risk isolation strategies, including contractual and insurance‑based structures, for multi‑entity and GOCO/COCO arrangements.
• Advise senior leadership on liability implications of new facilities, long‑term contracts, entity formations, and market expansion.
• Own end‑to‑end insurance program design, procurement, placement, renewal and optimization for Nuclear, Property, General Liability, Auto, Workers’ Compensation, D&O and related coverages.
• Manage layered nuclear‑related coverage requirements, ensuring compliance, adequacy and cost‑efficiency.
• Continuously evaluate coverage‑to‑exposure ratios, close gaps and improve insurance ROI.
• Develop financial risk quantification models and provide recommendations based on exposure analysis.
• Serve as the liaison between insurance brokers, legal, operations, IT, security, finance and regulatory teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience building or leading risk management, insurance or compliance functions in a high‑growth environment.
• Strong understanding of liability structuring, multi‑entity corporate structures and nuclear‑related regulatory requirements.
• Ability to translate complex risk exposure into actionable insurance and contractual solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with cross‑functional stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Self‑starter mindset with capacity to work independently and scale the function as the company expands.
