Revenue Agent 1 – Income Tax Collection

About the role

The Georgia Department of Revenue is seeking a Revenue Agent 1 to support the Income Tax Collection Section. You will work directly with individuals and businesses to determine tax liabilities and ensure compliance with state tax laws.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate tax accounts using computer queries, record reviews, and telephone interviews.
• Assist delinquent taxpayers in becoming voluntarily compliant through payment agreements, offers in compromise, and collection actions.
• Prepare tax assessments and ensure accurate collection of liabilities.
• Communicate with taxpayers, tax professionals, local officials, and attorneys via phone, email, or in‑person.
• Collaborate with the Office of Special Investigations to identify potential criminal activity.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least one year of relevant experience in bookkeeping, finance, accounting, collections, or call‑center environments, OR one year as a Revenue Agent Trainee (FIT059) or equivalent.
