About the role

The Resource Specialist supports District Operations for the Texas A&M Forest Service, ensuring that all programs are delivered effectively within the Jasper District.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare tract and stand maps, collect property and stand data, and draft management plans.
• Serve as a wildland firefighter and emergency responder, operating heavy firefighting equipment and performing ground reconnaissance.
• Manage and account for assigned credit cards, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance.
• Maintain physical fitness standards and be available 24‑hour for emergency calls.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; a 2‑year natural resources technical degree is preferred.
• Valid Texas CDL Class A or ability to obtain one within 180 days of hire.
• Ability to meet annual physical fitness standards and obtain NWCG training and Red Card certification.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PC‑based programs and software.
• Ability to use GIS/GPS applications (preferred).
