Resident Solution Architect

About the role

Starburst Data is seeking a highly skilled and self‑starting individual to join the team as a Resident Solution Architect. You will work closely with customers to understand their business challenges and design solutions using Starburst products, while also collaborating with partners to create comprehensive training programs.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to capture business goals, data architecture, and technical requirements.
• Design end‑to‑end solutions that leverage Starburst for data access, analytics, and performance optimization.
• Develop architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and implementation plans.
• Lead implementation and deployment of Starburst solutions alongside customer and internal teams.
• Provide technical guidance, best practices, and troubleshooting during solution rollout.
• Work with partners to train and upskill external personnel on Starburst products.
• Create resources, best‑practice guides, and application flow diagrams to enhance partner delivery.
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and data‑management best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in a technical role such as solution architect, data engineer, or software engineer.
• Deep understanding of data architecture principles, including data modeling, integration and warehousing.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with distributed query engines (e.g., Presto, Trino, Apache Spark).
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and client‑facing consulting skills.
• Experience with Linux, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and scripting languages (Java, Python, Bash) is a plus.
• Prior involvement in open‑source projects, technical training delivery, or LLM‑based data interaction patterns is highly desirable.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for onboarding, off‑sites and customer engagements.
