Resident Director (Live‑in)

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is seeking a full‑time, live‑in Resident Director to lead one of its residence halls for a 12‑month period. Reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life, the RD will oversee the daily operations of a community housing 150‑400 students.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and develop a team of 5‑9 Resident Assistants, graduate community managers, and student assistants.
• Recruit, select, train, and mentor student staff members.
• Provide residential education, community‑building activities, and crisis management support.
• Enforce university housing policies and manage building administration.
• Participate in a 24/365 on‑call rotation, including evenings and weekends.
• Support summer operations and collaborate on college‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Professional live‑in staff member able to reside in the residence hall.
• Experience supervising student staff and managing large residential communities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on‑call duties.
• Strong interpersonal skills for student interaction and conflict resolution.
