Resettlement Case Management Intern

About the role

The Resettlement Case Management Intern will support the IRC’s resettlement team in Baltimore, helping newly arrived refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants integrate into the community. This role offers hands‑on experience in case management, client support, and coordination of essential services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients remotely or in‑person with housing set‑ups, activating EBT cards, applying for Social Security cards, and obtaining Maryland ID cards.
• Coordinate transportation for clients to medical appointments and other required services.
• Conduct orientation sessions (remote, office, home, or community‑based) on topics such as opening bank accounts, using EBT cards at grocery stores, and navigating public transportation in Baltimore.
• Maintain accurate case documentation, including case‑notes and file updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the casework supervisor.

Required profile

• Prior experience or strong interest in working with refugees, immigrants, or case management/social work (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, cross‑cultural environment.
• Flexible, reliable, and detail‑oriented.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills across cultures.
