Research Technician II – MRI Imaging

About the role
The Center for Functional and Molecular Imaging (CFMI) at Georgetown University is seeking a Research Technician II to support its neuroimaging program. The role combines operation of a 3.0 T MRI scanner with independent research activities, including data collection, processing, and analysis for studies involving diverse participant groups.
Key responsibilities
- Operate the 3.0 T MRI scanner for a variety of research protocols after training.
- Ensure participant safety and compliance with MR safety guidelines.
- Collect, organize, and transfer MRI data for ongoing studies.
- Perform data processing, quality‑control checks, and analysis of functional and structural MRI datasets.
- Assist researchers with troubleshooting technical issues and interpreting results.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and data interpretation.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, biomedical engineering or a related field.
- At least one year of experience working in a research laboratory.
- Ability to work independently and interact professionally with participants, including neurodivergent individuals and patients with Alzheimer’s, stroke, autism, or pediatric populations.
Required skills
- Operation of a 3.0 T MRI scanner.
- MRI data acquisition and management.
- Processing and analysis of fMRI and other MRI modalities.
- Implementation of quality‑control procedures for neuroimaging data.
- Technical troubleshooting and data transfer skills.
