Research Technician II – Laboratory Operations

About the role

The Research Technician II will support daily operations of a chemistry laboratory within the Cooperative Agriculture and Research Center. The role ensures equipment reliability, safety compliance, and provides technical assistance to students and researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC‑MS, FTIR, UV‑Vis, ICP‑MS, IC, TOC, and CHNS systems.
• Manage inventory of chemicals, consumables, and lab equipment, coordinating procurement and timely replenishment.
• Enforce laboratory safety procedures, conduct inspections, maintain compliance documentation, and support audit readiness.
• Train students on laboratory techniques and instrument operation; assist faculty and researchers with experimental setup.
• Maintain calibration records, maintenance logs, and instrument usage documentation; prepare reports on inventory and lab efficiency.
• Participate in college‑wide events and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation in a research or teaching laboratory.
• Strong organizational skills for inventory control and procurement processes.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient laboratory environment.
