Research Security Analyst - Threat Analysis

About the role

The Research Security Analyst supports Louisiana State University’s research enterprise by identifying, assessing, and mitigating internal threats. The role ensures compliance with federal mandates such as NSPM‑33 and the CHIPS and Science Act while fostering a culture of security awareness across faculty, staff, and students.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct proactive and reactive internal threat assessments covering cybersecurity, data security, intellectual property, and unauthorized disclosures.
• Collaborate with compliance, legal, IT security, and human resources to investigate and resolve security concerns.
• Develop risk‑assessment methodologies, reporting frameworks, and support incident‑response activities related to research security breaches.
• Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive research security training program aligned with federal requirements.
• Create training materials, track completion rates, and serve as a subject‑matter expert on best practices.
• Assist in the creation, implementation, and continuous improvement of research security policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Strong analytical expertise with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
• In‑depth knowledge of federal research security regulations (NSPM‑33, CHIPS and Science Act).
• Excellent communication skills to convey complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple university departments.
