Research Intern – Part‑time (Summer 2027)

About the role

Children’s Research Triangle (CRT) is a Chicago‑based non‑profit focused on mental‑health research and services for children and families. The research team offers a part‑time, unpaid internship for undergraduate students, primarily remote with a required weekly on‑site visit, running from mid‑May to mid‑August (flexible).

Key responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating programs such as the Trauma Treatment Program, Youth Mental Health First Aid grant, Youth MIND, and a city‑wide gun‑violence prevention initiative.
• Develop and maintain a database of children aged 0‑18 who have undergone psychological evaluations at CRT.
• Conduct literature searches, prepare research materials, and interview families.
• Enter, clean, and manage data using Excel and IBM SPSS, and support data analysis.

Required profile

• Undergraduate student who has completed an introductory course in psychology, behavioral science, child development, social work (grade B or higher) or is enrolled in a pre‑medical program.
• Demonstrated academic merit and interest in empirical research or medicine.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with IBM SPSS for data analysis.
