Research & Instruction Librarian

About the role

The Research & Instruction Librarian provides advanced research assistance and instruction to students, faculty, and staff of a designated college, while coordinating and assessing the multi‑literacy program at East Texas A&M University.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an engaging information literacy program with measurable student learning outcomes.
• Provide library instruction, create print and online instructional materials, and conduct classes and workshops.
• Offer research assistance through multiple channels and serve as subject librarian for the assigned college.
• Collaborate on collection development to align resources with teaching and research needs.
• Plan and participate in engagement activities, assess research and user engagement, and serve on committees.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA‑accredited program.
• One or more years of post‑MLS experience in research services, reference, or instruction in an academic library.
• Excellent oral and written communication, attention to detail, and project management skills.
• Ability to work individually and as a team, travel as needed, and adapt to a changing library environment.

Required skills

• Experience with e‑learning technologies such as SpringShare, Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, and Articulate.
• Familiarity with learning management systems (D2L, Blackboard, Canvas) and emerging technologies like AI, augmented reality, and gamification.
• Knowledge of instructional design, universal design, active learning techniques, and ADA guidelines.
• Ability to assess effectiveness of library services and initiatives.
