Research Associate – Transportation Analytics

About the role

The Texas A&M Transportation Institute seeks a Research Associate to support engineering and technical research in pavement analytics. The role involves data collection, machine‑learning development, and field work, primarily on‑site in Bryan, Texas.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct fieldwork and travel for data collection (approximately 51% of effort).
• Process, analyze, synthesize, and perform quality checks on collected data.
• Develop Python‑based machine‑learning algorithms and code.
• Perform computational modeling and numerical simulations.
• Document data, prepare reports and proposals, and assist senior researchers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering‑related field (preferably Civil Engineering).
• At least two years of relevant experience, including fieldwork and data analysis.
• Valid U.S. Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with machine‑learning techniques and data analysis.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to use automation tools for data processing.
