Research Associate – Genomics & Bioinformatics

About the role

Join Texas A&M AgriLife Genomics and Bioinformatics Services (TxGen) as a Research Associate. You will work in a high‑throughput sequencing facility supporting agricultural and biological research worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Next‑Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation and sample quality‑control (QC) protocols.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automated liquid handlers and short‑read sequencing platforms.
• Log sample intake and processing steps in the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and verify data integrity.
• Execute laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain meticulous documentation.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and support for complex genomic workflows.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented with professional laboratory experience in NGS library preparation and QC.
• Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems and short‑read sequencing instruments is highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently in a high‑throughput research service environment.
• Strong organizational skills for managing samples, data, and documentation.
