Research Assistant – 2‑Year Program

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is seeking recent graduates with strong quantitative skills to join its two‑year Research Assistant Program. You will work side‑by‑side with economists on projects that shape monetary policy, financial stability, and regional economic analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, manage, and analyze economic and financial datasets.
• Conduct statistical and econometric analysis using Stata, R, Python, or MATLAB.
• Perform literature reviews and synthesize academic and policy research.
• Prepare charts, tables, written reports, presentations, and briefing materials.
• Support the production of research papers, publications, and time‑sensitive policy analyses.
• Collaborate with economists, researchers, and fellow assistants across multiple projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, computer science, data science, public policy, or a related field.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in economic research and public‑policy impact.
