Rendezvous & Proximity Operations Oversight Software Engineer (P2)

About the role

We are looking for a Rendezvous and Proximity Operations Oversight Software Engineer to support NASA’s JETS II contract at Johnson Space Center. The role focuses on on‑orbit guidance, navigation and control (GN&C) and flight‑mechanics for ISS visiting vehicles, providing technical oversight, program integration and certification.

Key responsibilities

• Certify GN&C system requirements compliance through analysis and test report reviews.
• Assess fault‑tolerance safety compliance and communicate findings to the Safety Review Panel.
• Identify and recommend solutions to GN&C/RPO performance issues.
• Review Monte Carlo trajectory analyses using independent 6‑DOF simulations.
• Provide GN&C mission console support during real‑time ground monitoring.
• Maintain relationships with engineering, safety, flight operations and vehicle provider teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (minimum 2 years relevant experience).
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and ability to pass a government background investigation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with NASA civil servants and contractors.
