Remote Workers Compensation Claims Examiner (California)

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a California Workers Compensation Claims Examiner to work remotely, based in Brea, CA. The role analyzes workers compensation claims on behalf of clients to determine the benefits due, while keeping claims adjudicated within service expectations, industry best practice and client requirements. Candidates must reside in California.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process claims through action plans, investigating and gathering information to determine exposure on the claim.
• Negotiate settlements of claims within designated authority.
• Communicate claim activity and processing with the claimant and the client.
• Report claims to the excess carrier and respond to directions promptly.

Required profile

• 4 years of claims management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of California workers compensation jurisdiction required; SIP required or obtainable within one year of employment.
• Professional certification for the line of business preferred.

Required skills

• Computer keyboarding.
• Analysis, problem solving and judgment, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
