Remote Pharmacist – Prior Authorization (CST Timezone)

About the role

This contract role is for a Clinical Pharmacist who will work remotely from the Central Time Zone, reviewing prior‑authorization cases for a Fortune 100 health‑care organization. The position is fast‑paced, call‑center oriented, and focuses on making coverage determinations based on clinical criteria and plan design.

Key responsibilities

• Review and decision‑make on member prescriptions and prior‑authorization requests using multiple computer systems.
• Communicate with pharmacy technicians, providers, and physicians via phone to gather clinical information.
• Interpret clinical guidelines and coverage policies to render accurate determinations.
• Suggest formulary alternatives and advise on medication use when requested.
• Maintain compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and internal quality‑assurance standards.
• Organize workload, prioritize tasks, and meet turnaround‑time targets.

Required profile

• Active pharmacist license in the state of residence.
• Resident in a CST time‑zone state.
• Experience in prior‑authorization or clinical pharmacy work, preferably in a call‑center environment.
• Ability to work independently, follow strict guidelines, and handle high‑volume case loads.
