Remote Controller – Lead Accounting for Multi‑Unit Franchise

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Controller to lead the accounting function for a high‑performing, multi‑unit franchise group. This fully remote position partners directly with executive leadership, offering strategic influence and the chance to shape financial infrastructure across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting, month‑end close, and GAAP compliance for all entities.
• Own the annual audit process from planning through successful completion.
• Design and implement scalable financial systems, strengthening internal controls.
• Provide acquisition support, including due diligence and integration leadership.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic initiatives.
• Supervise, coach, and develop a high‑performing, geographically dispersed accounting team.
• Manage core accounting, business license compliance, tax reporting, and payroll support.
• Continuously evaluate policies and procedures for operational excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5 + years progressive accounting or financial management experience.
• Strong mastery of GAAP principles, financial reporting, and budgeting/forecasting.
• Proven success supervising and developing teams, especially in multi‑unit or franchise environments.
• Experience managing audits and internal controls in dynamic settings.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Rent Manager).
• Expertise with Google Suite and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical and technical troubleshooting abilities.
