Remote Backend Engineer – $85/hr Contract

About the role

We are looking for a remote Backend Engineer to work with cutting‑edge AI coding agents on complex engineering tasks. You will review model‑generated code, ensure its quality and performance, and help improve the AI models through rigorous evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Use frontier AI coding agents (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI) to complete and evaluate backend tasks.
• Review model‑generated code for correctness, maintainability, and performance.
• Identify bugs, edge cases, and failure modes in AI outputs.
• Compare outputs from multiple models and assess strengths and weaknesses.
• Apply professional engineering judgment to realistic backend scenarios.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while enhancing AI model performance.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Experience building APIs, distributed systems, microservices, backend platforms, or databases.
• Regular use of AI coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, or similar tools.
• Ability to evaluate model‑generated code and spot architectural trade‑offs.
• Preferred experience with large‑scale production systems.

What we offer

• Compensation up to $85 per hour.
• $400 per accepted task (typical tasks take 1–3 hours after ramp‑up).
