Registered Professional Nurse – Full Time

About the role

This full‑time, non‑competitive civil service position provides professional nursing services to students and staff across one or more schools. Working under the guidance of a School Physician or School Nurse‑Teacher, the Registered Professional Nurse ensures health standards, maintains health records, and delivers emergency care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the School Physician with physical, visual, and auditory screenings for students and employees.
• Administer first aid and emergency treatment as needed.
• Prepare, update, and safeguard school health records.
• Support school immunization clinics and coordinate transportation for sick or injured individuals.
• Inspect school facilities, playgrounds, and cafeterias for safety and sanitation compliance.
• Order, inventory, and manage first‑aid supplies and health equipment.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff on attendance issues and communicable disease control.
• Generate required reports and documentation.

Required profile

• Graduated from a state‑approved nursing program qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse status.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York at the time of appointment.
• Ability to follow technical, oral, and written instructions and maintain accurate records.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with students, teachers, parents, and health personnel.
