Registered Professional Nurse – Full Time

About the role

This full‑time, non‑competitive civil service position provides professional nursing services across one or more schools. The Registered Professional Nurse ensures student and employee health standards are met, maintains health records, and delivers emergency care when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the School Physician with physical, visual, and auditory screening examinations for students and staff.
• Administer first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees.
• Prepare and maintain accurate health records for school authorities.
• Support school immunization clinics and related documentation.
• Coordinate transportation of sick or injured individuals to medical facilities.
• Inspect school facilities, playgrounds, and cafeterias for safety and sanitation compliance.
• Order, inventory, and manage first‑aid supplies and health equipment.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and School Nurse‑Teachers on attendance and communicable disease issues.
• Generate required health reports and documentation.

Required profile

• Graduated from a nursing program approved by the State Education Department.
• Hold a valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse license at the time of appointment.
• Ability to follow technical, oral, and written instructions and maintain detailed records.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and staff.
