Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgery/Bariatric – Acute Care

About the role

The RN will join an interdisciplinary care team delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a surgery/bariatric acute‑care setting. Working under the guidance of Nurse Managers and the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, the nurse will ensure compliance with the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code of Ethics.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the full nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—using evidence‑based practices.
• Provide culturally competent, relationship‑based care tailored to individual patient needs.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, aligning care plans with patient goals.
• Coordinate safe, quality care through interdisciplinary collaboration and timely documentation.
• Support professional development by completing competency assessments, mentoring peers, and participating in quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Assist in developing protocols, optimizing resources, and ensuring compliance with healthcare policies.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred).
• Current RN license (single‑state or multi‑state compact) and BLS certification.
• Less than 1 year of clinical experience or recent completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Strong critical‑thinking, communication, teamwork, and commitment to evidence‑based practice.
