Registered Nurse - PCU or Observation, Multiple Shifts

About the role

AdventHealth Apopka is hiring a full-time day-shift Registered Nurse for its PCU or observation unit. The campus is a 158-bed hospital with a 30,000-square-foot emergency department, expanded surgical services and a catheterization lab. The position requires multiple shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients across physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors and develop individualized care plans, revising them as needed
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, medications and self-care
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and outcomes
• Ensure compliance with infection control, safety and regulatory requirements
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and families
• Supervise and delegate care provided by other team members
• Participate in performance improvement activities and respond promptly to code situations

Required profile

• Associate's degree in Nursing (required)
• 1+ year of experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Fluent English, read, spoken and written
• EKG and Advanced Life Support certification (based on patient needs)
