Registered Nurse – Main PACU

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Main Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This full‑time, day‑shift position provides critical nursing care to patients emerging from surgery, ensuring safe recovery and optimal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor patients' vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness during the post‑operative period.
• Administer pain management, medications, and IV therapy according to physician orders.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Educate patients and families about post‑operative recovery and discharge instructions.

Required profile

• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of Arkansas.
• Experience in a PACU or critical care setting preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to work day‑shift hours consistently.
