Registered Nurse - Heart and Vascular Cardiology Clinic

About the role

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is hiring a full-time day-shift Registered Nurse for its Heart and Vascular Cardiology Heart Function Clinic in La Grange, Illinois. The nurse supports patients before and during their visits, prepares equipment for physicians and keeps the clinic running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients in preparing for exams and collect specimens promptly
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatments and exams
• Perform general nursing activities, ensuring quality care and efficient patient flow
• Oversee appointment scheduling, prioritizing emergencies, and escort patients to exam rooms within 15 minutes of arrival
• Record patient vitals and screen medical information
• Maintain and control medical supplies and medication counts securely
• Perform audio, vision and spirometer tests for physical exams
• Answer patient calls within two hours and process prescription calls within 30 minutes
• Complete referrals and hospital admissions, give clear patient instructions and document conditions, medication reactions and phone conversations
• Maintain patient records and file them correctly
• Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE appropriately, perform hand hygiene and enforce safety regulations

Required profile

• Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing (required)
• 2+ years of professional nursing experience; physician office experience preferred
• RN license (required); BLS/CPR certification (required)
• RN experience in cardiology, heart failure or an outpatient setting preferred
