Registered Nurse – Full-time, On-site

About the role

Opelousas General Health System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join its 171‑bed acute care hospital in Opelousas, LA. This full‑time, on‑site position involves delivering direct patient care, collaborating with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, and supporting the hospital’s commitment to high‑quality, evidence‑based practice.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions for assigned patients.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures within scope of practice.
• Monitor patient conditions, document care accurately in electronic health records, and report changes promptly.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge plans.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members and adhere to infection‑control and safety protocols.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Required profile

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Louisiana (or eligibility to obtain).
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate or Bachelor’s preferred).
• Strong clinical skills in patient assessment, medication administration, and care planning.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities for teamwork with patients, families, and staff.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple patients, and maintain timely documentation.
• Commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous learning.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (preferred).
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
