About the role

The Behavioral Health Charge Registered Nurse provides direct patient care and leadership on a day‑shift unit in a busy Denver hospital. This full‑time position blends clinical expertise with charge responsibilities, ensuring safe, high‑quality care for patients experiencing mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the behavioral health unit during the day shift, coordinating patient flow and staff assignments.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, including suicide and self‑harm risk evaluation.
• Administer and monitor medications, addressing side effects and interactions.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic nurse‑patient relationships.
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff, acting as a resource for clinical decision‑making.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create individualized care plans.

Required profile

• RN diploma or higher from an accredited nursing program.
• Active, unencumbered Colorado RN license.
• Experience in behavioral health, charge nursing, or related leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of PTSD, psychosomatic medication interactions, and risk assessment.
